Migration from A2 Hosting to 1onlyhost

You can transfer a cPanel website to 1onlyhost easily. cPanel is a control panel used to manage your hosting. Our Standard Web Hosting comes with the control panel cPanel. It’s the most popular Linux control panel in the web hosting industry. You can easily migrate a website from any hosting to 1onlyhost using this control panel. This transfer of website is often called migration regardless of the control panel.

For a cPanel website, it would be associated with a cPanel account. Either it would be the primary domain of that account or it would be an addon domain. In this tutorial, we assume you have a Standard Web Hosting package with us and we are going to see how to migrate a full cPanel account from A2 Hosting to 1onlyhost.

cPanel migration from A2 Hosting to 1onlyhost

1) Login to A2 Hosting cPanel

Login to your cPanel interface at the A2 Hosting. You could login to the cPanel by appending cPanel port following a colon (“:”).

Eg: http://yourdomain.com:2082 or https://yourdomain.com:2083

Please make sure that the domain is correctly pointing to the A2 Hosting servers. Otherwise, you would need to replace the domain name with the hostname of the server where your website hosted or the IP address of the same server.

2) Backup creation

Click on the icon “Backup” from the “Files” category. This will lead to you the next page where you could choose the type of backup needs to be done. You can refer the screen shot below.

In the next page, you need to click on the button “Download a Full Website Backup”. This will generate the backup of full cPanel account and will save the backup on a selected location. Available locations to choose are listed below.

1) Home directory

2) Remote FTP server

3) Remote FTP server (passive mode Transfer)

4) SCP

The best option is Home directory. You could select the home directory and provide an email address so that a notification email would be sent to the email when the backup generation is completed. It is shown in the screen shot below.Migration from A2 Hosting to 1onlyhost

3) Start backup process

After selecting the backup location, please click on the “Generate Backup” button.

The download will start now and you will get an email notification when the backup is completed.

4) Download the backup

Once the notification email is received, you could move the backup into /home/public_html/ location and make the permission of the backup file 644. This can be done on cPanel >> Files >> File Manager. Now you could download the website into your computer by calling http://yourdomain.com/backup_file.tar.gz where “yourdomain.com” is the primary domain name of your cPanel account and backup_file.tar.gz is the cPanel backup we’ve just created.

After downloading the backup, you need to upload the backup to your 1onlyhost hosting.

5) Upload the backup to 1onlyhost

Please refer the below guide to upload the website using FileZilla, an FTP client.

If no ftp account is created yet, please refer our below-given tutorial to know about how to create and manage ftp accounts in cPanel.

Now your backup is uploaded to our servers. You need to open a ticket requesting restore the backup file so that our support team will do the restoration for you. You could open a ticket from the portal at https://my.1onlyhost.net >> Support >> Open New Ticket. If you like to restore not the entire cPanel account but only a few domains. Please mention it on the support ticket.

In this way, you can migrate a website from A2 Hosting to 1onlyhost.
