Redirect a specific page to another page using cPanel
If content of your webpage has been moved to a new location and you want to redirect users to the updated URL then you can use the Redirect feature of cPanel.
To use redirect feature go to cPanel and scroll down to “Domains” tab. Then select “Redirects” to open the redirect settings.
There are two types of redirects:
- Permanent (301).
- Temporary (302).
Permanent (301) redirect helps to tell search engine that the page has been moved permanently to a new location. So, search engines can update resource location.
Temporary (302) redirect tells that the content is updated to a new address, but the change is temporary, so search engine should not update the URL of content.
Specify the old location followed by new location. Then choose between the options given below:
- First option will redirect only those users who type www in front of URL.
- Second option will redirect URL with or without www.
- Select “Do Not Redirect www” to disable redirect for those users who type www in front of URL.
Redirect a complete website or directory to new one Select wild card redirect checkbox to redirect one directory to another. For example: Redirect oldurl.com to newurl.com
Note: The path of the sub-files and sub-directories inside the changed directory will remain same.
