Install an RPM from WHM

There are many RPMs cPanel included with. According to cPanel, RPMs are a type of software formats, the software that contains RPM package contains the package management system. RPM stands for RPM Package Manager.

There are many other RPMs that are not included with cPanel but they can be installed for an operating system. In this documentation, we are going to see how to install other RPMs not provided by cPanel using the WHM. The required steps with their screenshots are added below.

1) Login to WHM.

You could login to the WHM using a web browser. You need to enter the IP address or hostname of the server followed by a colon and port number such as http://hostname:2086. If you need to access the WHM secured URL, you need to enter the below in the address bar of the web browser. https://hostname:2087. The difference here is the port number. Please note, you need to access the WHM, cPanel or Webmail accounts via SSL connection (Secured connection) to enable external authentication.

2) Go to Home >> Software >> Install RPM.

Now, you will be redirected to the next page where you can see available software options. Please click on Install an RPM from this screen. You can refer to the below screenshot for clarification.

Clicking on Install an RPM will lead you to next page where there will be a drop-down window. You can see a list of RPMs in that page and you can select and install as shown in the screenshot.

You can select any one of the RPMs from the list as shown in the screenshot. After selecting the RPM, you need to click on the button “Install”. This interface will install the RPM on the server.

This is how we can install an RPM that is not provided by the cPanel using WHM.
