Setting Server Time from WHM
When you run a website, you may need to rely on the server time for your website. From placing orders to delivering products are depended on the server time. The physical location of you and your server may be different. In such situations, the server time will be shown on your website and it may be different for your locality. Here is the need to set server time properly. We should configure the correct time zone on the server.
Fortunately, most of the control panels provide a way to set up server time. The cPanel also provide an interface where we can manage the server time. We can set server time zone, enable syncing, etc, from this interface. We are going to see how can we set server time from WHM, the admin part of the cPanel, in this tutorial.
How to set Server time from WHM?
The steps involved in setting up server time from WHM is described below. You could follow these steps to set up time zone on your server from WHM.
1) Log into WHM
You need to login to the WHM, the administration part of the cPanel. Normally, you could log in to the WHM from a web browser by appending a colon (:) and the WHM port 2087 to the server hostname. This may not work if the server hostname is not pointed correctly. You could use server IP address in that case instead of the server hostname. You could refer the below example for clarifications.
eg:
https://server.hostname.tld:2087
or
This will lead you to the WHM login page. You could login to the WHM with the username “root” and the root password.
2) Go to Server Time
The next step is to go to the interface where you can set the server time. For that, please go to WHM » Server Configuration » Server Time. Please refer the below screenshot for any clarification.
3) Select Time Zone
Now you will be lead to the next window, where you can select the time zone. Please click on the drop-down menu and you can see the time zones in alphabetical order. You can select the time zone there. You need to click on the button “Change TimeZone” after selecting the desired time zone. Please refer the screenshot for clarification.
You could choose the time zone from the dropdown list you could see in the above screenshot and click on the button “Change TimeZone” to change the time zone.
You may be needed to sync the server time with the time server of the network. You could sync with the network time from the same interface. WHM offers a feature to sync the server time with the network time. You need to click on the button “Sync Time with the Time Server” for that. You could refer the below screenshot for clarification.
