Change Hostname from WHM

Change Hostname from WHM

What is a hostname?

A hostname is a human-readable nickname which corresponds to the address of a device connected to a network. The domain names are also hostnames.

There are also hostnames for individual servers and we can set them easily. In this documentation, we are going to see the steps to change /set hostnames from WHM, the admin part of cPanel.

Missing the hostname or conflict in hostname can cause problems for emails, etc.

A hostname should be in the format of a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN). An example for this is shown below.

Format: server.domain.tld

Ex: server.mydomain.com

Steps to reset hostname from WHM

1) Login to WHM.

You need to login to WHM for this. To login to WHM, you could add WHM port with the IP address of the server or existing hostname of the server.

Ex: https://1.2.3.4:2087

or

https://server.domain.tld:2087

Now you are logged into the WHM. Please follow the below steps to proceed with the hostname reset.

2) Now, go to Network setup. Please refer the below screenshots for any further reference.
