Enable IonCube Loader in WHM

IonCube is one of the most popular and important PHP Extension. It allows the web application developer to encrypt and sell the license for the PHP application they have developed. Encrypting or Encoding the code allows the developer to protect the code and make a living by selling the license for their PHP application.

Many web applications built in PHP use the IonCube extension to protect the source code. However, If you are a customer of one such application, or if your clients are, you have to enable the IonCube loader. Enabling the IonCube extension will allow the users to host PHP applications encoded with IonCube. Without enabling the extension, the PHP application will not work.

If you are using WHM to manage your web server, It is fairly easy to enable the IonCube extension. In this tutorial, I am going to show you How to do that. So, Let’s get started.

Enable IonCube Loader in WHM

First of all, Log in to your WHM account and click on the Server Configuration option. See the following screenshot to locate the option on the panel.

Under the Server Configuration section, find and click on the Tweak Settings option. This section allows us to update settings for multiple services running on the server.

This section contains multiple tabs. Find and click on the PHP tab and click on it to update the PHP specific settings.

Locate the option called cPanel PHP Loader. On the right-hand side of the option, you will find multiple loaders like IonCube and Zend that you can enable.

To enable IonCube, check the IonCube checkbox. See the following screenshot to easily locate the option and the checkbox.

Finally, click on the Save button given at the bottom of the page to apply changes.

Now, your clients, you, or your team members can host PHP applications that require the IonCube Loader to run. There are many applications that require this loader. So, If you are a Web hosting reseller, you should enable this option because your clients might require it.
