How to Install Zend Optimizer in Linux?
In this documentation, we can check how to install Zend Optimizer in Linux. Zend Optimizer is a free run time application. It runs files encoded by Zend Guard and enhances the performance of PHP application. Please note that Zend Optimizer is only available for the accounts using PHP version 5.2 or below.
INSTALLATION
1) Login to the server via SSH.
2) Download the package.
You can check the server’s architecture by using the following commands.
uname –a
For 32-bit Architecture
wget http://downloads.zend.com/optimizer/3.3.9/ZendOptimizer-3.3.9-linux-glibc23-i386.tar.gz
For 64-bit Architecture
wget http://downloads.zend.com/optimizer/3.3.9/ZendOptimizer-3.3.9-linux-glibc23-x86_64.tar.gz
3) Check the php version of your server using the following command.
php -v
4) Untar the package.
tar- xzvf ZendOptimizer-3.3.9-linux-glibc23-i386.tar.gz
5) Copy the module into the directory ‘/usr/lib/php/modules’.
cp ZendOptimizer-3.3.9-linux-glibc23-i386/data/5_1_x_comp/ZendOptimizer.so /usr/lib/php/modules/
6) Edit the PHP configuration file ‘/etc/php.ini’ and add the following line.
zend_extension=/usr/lib/php/modules/ZendOptimizer.so
7) Restart Apache.
/etc/init.d/httpd restart
Testing
1) Execute the following command to get information about Zend.
php -i | grep Zend
2) Run the following command to make sure that the module is uploading.
php -m
3) You can also create a phpinfo page and check if it’s showing details of Zend Optimizer.
